Blue Lagoon dress

BLUE LAGOON  dress for little girls aged 5.

 

A lovely deep turquoise colour with an unusual hand printed Japanese silky feel fabric on the bodice. The turquoise cotton sleeves and gathered skirt have scalloped hems like gentle waves. The elbow length sleeves can be turned up so that the wavy edge forms cuffs.

The dress has French seams, a round neck with ties and a small bow at the front. You can almost hear the gentle waves lapping on the edge of the lagoon! Ideal for summer for those living in the southern hemisphere or add tights and a cosy cardigan to add warmth for the autumn in the northern hemisphere.

Chest 25 ins, 63.5 cms, Length from shoulder seam to skirt hem is 23.5 ins 60 cms.Sleeve length from shoulder 9 ins, 23 cms.Waist is below the line of the gathers on the skirt.

The fabric. Bodice is 100% acetate crepe, rest of dress is 100% cotton.

Washing. Hand wash separately in warm water due to hand printed bodice, warm iron.

Ocean dress

Sunshine is on its way at last in England. Hooray! My latest unqiue design “Ocean” is a sundress for a 6 year old in lovely turquoise and ocean blues – ideal for holidays and the beach. The pinafore style dress has a full skirt and is made in a 100% pre washed and shrunk cotton print and a turquoise linen which adds texture. The sundress has an elasticated back waist silky polyester satin straps worn with a T-shirt, blouse or just on its own.

OCTAVIA dress

OCTAVIA dress for little girls aged 8.

A beautiful and classy party dress for age 8 which has a hint of the ‘Great Gatsby’ and the roaring 20’s. The fabric in antique gold coloured satin and lace panels, combined with the design makes this dress one-of-a-kind and very feminine. It has a sleeveless lined bodice, double tiered skirt, back zip and has a wide sash around the waist ending in a large bow at the back.

GEMMA dress

Another party dress hot off the press! This little girls dress is called ‘Gemma’ and is for your princesses aged 4. The dress is in an unusual creased antique gold satin, partly overlaid with vertical lace panels in a floral design. The dress gleams and would certainly light up the eyes of a little girl as it is very pretty and also has the swirl factor that girls like. For busy mums the dress is machine washable and does not require ironing.

“What have you done today to make you feel proud?”

I was listening to the inspirational song called Proud, sung by Heather Small, whilst finishing my latest dress ‘Strawberries’. Every dress that I create is a proud achievement when it finally comes together.

Sometimes I start out with a sketched design and then amend it as I go along. Sometimes the addition of a trim or button makes the dress come alive and it ‘steps out of the ordinary’.

The red satin ribbon trim on ‘Strawberries’ was not planned at the beginning but I thought it added zing to the finished dress and emphasised the colour of strawberries. The fully lined sundress is made for a 2 year old and has a lovely strawberry print on cotton voile. As it’s 100% cotton it is machine washable so it doesn’t matter if ice cream gets dropped down the front!

Luxury TIMELESS dress

Timeless is a luxurious deep forest green silk velvet dress for age 3. The dress has unusual ruched sleeves with gold trim, and the neck and waist are also trimmed in gold. This dress is ideal for a special occasion and is a classic design that is timeless and will not go out of fashion. It would look stunning on a little girl with auburn or fair hair. It goes well with Serendipitygdds Faux Fur jacket aged 3.  

TIMELESS dress for little girls aged 3. A gorgeous deep forest green silk velvet dress for age 3. This one-off dress design will not date and oozes luxury.The dress has soft pleats falling from the waist and a concealed zip at the back. There is a glimmer of gold at the neck, waist and sleeves, which are an unusual ruched design. Ideal for a special occasion. Note the net petticoat underneath in pictures is not included.Chest 24 ins, 61 cms, Waist 23 ins 58.5cms , Length from shoulder seam to hem is 22 ins 56 cms.The fabric is velvet (80% viscose, 20% silk) and the  gold trim is polyester.The dress is machine washable at 40C, do not use biological detergents and cold iron on the reverse.

Attended the #SBS "Small Business Sunday" event at Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Friday 30th March 2012 , powered by Rymans , or was it "paid for" *smile* to celebrate with the winners of Theo Paphitis's twitter driven small business recognition / promotion initiative. It was great to meet up with many fellow small business sunday winners in person after having communicated all this time via the internet.

The discussions , Q&A's and advice were all very lively, amusing and informative. A very big thanks to all concerned.

PIPPA dress and reversible belt

My latest little girls dress design launched 21/02/12 (how's that for a palindrome?) was surprisingly inspired by a fish! I watched a TV programme about the Great Barrier Reef and saw a purple and orange fish. The dress is called ‘Pippa’ and is for girls aged 3. The trendy double hanky hem design is in a plain purple cloth with a sweetheart neckline. It is sleeveless, with two buttons at the back and a pop of colour with a detachable belt  in orange /lime green which is reversible to feature either colour. The dress has a lined bodice, French seams and would certainly attract admiring glances.

ANNIE dress and clutch bag

Last week I was working under rather difficult circumstances due to a gas leak outside my house as the pipe had fractured. The supply had to be cut off. This meant that in temperatures of -5c to -7c for over 24 hours there was no central heating. A few fan heaters gave some warmth until the gas men replaced the pipes. Anyhow, my newest dress called ‘Annie’ is now finished – a special occasion dress for age 5. The dress has a black velvet semi-fitted bodice, floating cap sleeves in gold and black lace and a gathered skirt in black fabric with thin vertical lines of gold and silver lurex. The dress has a side zip, is fully lined and also included is a small clutch bag in matching fabric. Roll on summer , I can’t wait!

Via Moonfruit's new retail functionality for SHOP creation I have been able to link one of my feeder websites which has a SHOP on it directly to my Facebook business page @Serendipitygdds.

So as I add new dresses or accessories to my Dresses for Girls website shop they automatically appear in the Facebook shop, which has great graphic views and paypal or credit card sales and shipping options included.

Have a look, I think this is a great feature to aid WAHP (work at home parent) and crafters making handmade products.

This beautiful chic dress in gold & black lace is fully lined and fits age 3. The sleeveless dress has a round neck , burnished gold ribbon belt which can be tied at the front or back waist and has a concealed zip. The dress comes with its own short sleeve shrug in matching gold lace which is not lined. The shrug would also look lovely with a white dress. This designer outfit is unique , classy, very well made with top stitching and French seams and would be ideal to wear for a special occasion, such as a party or a wedding. Yes, 3 year olds can look elegant too and my latest unique dress in a luxurious gold lace fabric proves this. The sleeveless dress is fully lined , with burnished gold ribbon ties at the waist and concealed zip at the back. There is also a matching gold lace shrug with short sleeves to complete the outfit. Very stylish. All my dresses are very well made and can be considered as heirlooms to be kept and passed on through the family. All the dresses are designed for ease of movement and have some 'growing room' but please measure your little girl to ensure a good fit.

A new dress for a New Year. Poppies is an adorable dress for a 2 year old. The fabric is like an English Summer meadow with scarlet poppies and other flowers scattered randomly. It may be winter here in England at the moment, but its summer in the Southern Hemisphere where our friends and relatives are.
