BLUE LAGOON  dress for little girls aged 5.

 

A lovely deep turquoise colour with an unusual hand printed Japanese silky feel fabric on the bodice. The turquoise cotton sleeves and gathered skirt have scalloped hems like gentle waves. The elbow length sleeves can be turned up so that the wavy edge forms cuffs.

The dress has French seams, a round neck with ties and a small bow at the front. You can almost hear the gentle waves lapping on the edge of the lagoon! Ideal for summer for those living in the southern hemisphere or add tights and a cosy cardigan to add warmth for the autumn in the northern hemisphere.

Chest 25 ins, 63.5 cms, Length from shoulder seam to skirt hem is 23.5 ins 60 cms.Sleeve length from shoulder 9 ins, 23 cms.Waist is below the line of the gathers on the skirt.

The fabric. Bodice is 100% acetate crepe, rest of dress is 100% cotton.

Washing. Hand wash separately in warm water due to hand printed bodice, warm iron.

Looking for a dress for a 5 year old that’s a little bit different? Look no further as ‘Aotearoa’ fits the bill. This little sundress is ideal for the beach and is made in a very soft 100% cotton fabric from New Zealand. The quirky fabric design has NZ stamps on a navy blue background. . The dress gently flares from gathers on a narrow curved neckband and has ties at the shoulders.  Aotearoa is a Maori word meaning the land of the long white cloud. I bought the unusual fabric whilst travelling around New Zealand in 2007/08. It is a beautiful country with fantastic scenery, pristine beaches and friendly people. I ♥ NZ!

Ocean dress

Sunshine is on its way at last in England. Hooray! My latest unqiue design “Ocean” is a sundress for a 6 year old in lovely turquoise and ocean blues – ideal for holidays and the beach. The pinafore style dress has a full skirt and is made in a 100% pre washed and shrunk cotton print and a turquoise linen which adds texture. The sundress has an elasticated back waist silky polyester satin straps worn with a T-shirt, blouse or just on its own.

OCTAVIA dress for little girls aged 8.

A beautiful and classy party dress for age 8 which has a hint of the ‘Great Gatsby’ and the roaring 20’s. The fabric in antique gold coloured satin and lace panels, combined with the design makes this dress one-of-a-kind and very feminine. It has a sleeveless lined bodice, double tiered skirt, back zip and has a wide sash around the waist ending in a large bow at the back.

GEMMA dress

Another party dress hot off the press! This little girls dress is called ‘Gemma’ and is for your princesses aged 4. The dress is in an unusual creased antique gold satin, partly overlaid with vertical lace panels in a floral design. The dress gleams and would certainly light up the eyes of a little girl as it is very pretty and also has the swirl factor that girls like. For busy mums the dress is machine washable and does not require ironing.

“What have you done today to make you feel proud?”

I was listening to the inspirational song called Proud, sung by Heather Small, whilst finishing my latest dress ‘Strawberries’. Every dress that I create is a proud achievement when it finally comes together.

Sometimes I start out with a sketched design and then amend it as I go along. Sometimes the addition of a trim or button makes the dress come alive and it ‘steps out of the ordinary’.

The red satin ribbon trim on ‘Strawberries’ was not planned at the beginning but I thought it added zing to the finished dress and emphasised the colour of strawberries. The fully lined sundress is made for a 2 year old and has a lovely strawberry print on cotton voile. As it’s 100% cotton it is machine washable so it doesn’t matter if ice cream gets dropped down the front!

Luxury TIMELESS dress

Timeless is a luxurious deep forest green silk velvet dress for age 3. The dress has unusual ruched sleeves with gold trim, and the neck and waist are also trimmed in gold. This dress is ideal for a special occasion and is a classic design that is timeless and will not go out of fashion. It would look stunning on a little girl with auburn or fair hair. It goes well with Serendipitygdds Faux Fur jacket aged 3.

There is a glimmer of gold at the neck, waist and sleeves, which are an unusual ruched design. Ideal for a special occasion. Note the net petticoat underneath in pictures is not included.Chest 24 ins, 61 cms, Waist 23 ins 58.5cms , Length from shoulder seam to hem is 22 ins 56 cms.The fabric is velvet (80% viscose, 20% silk) and the  gold trim is polyester.The dress is machine washable at 40C, do not use biological detergents and cold iron on the reverse.
